IT control room as a calling card: visualisation and intuitive operation are key USPs

Intuitive handling ensures that new technical tools are accepted by the workforce! Those responsible at Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall AG can probably confirm this without reservation. Together with the control room specialists of JST – Jungmann Systemtechnik®, the company has created an IT control room that is responsible for the operational service of the affiliated data center and the clear visualization of the processes there. Hardware components, infrastructure and applications of the data center are monitored there 24/7.

What’s the famous saying? “Good things come to those who wait!” Benjamin Stamer and Fernando Lorieri confirm that “good” is actually an understatement in this case. The project managers have been working on it for more than a decade to implement a control room for the data center IT of Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall, whose components have been favored by the two shift supervisors for years. Today, the expert duo Stamer/Lorieri agree: “With its professionalism, this control room from JST is the calling card for our IT department.”

The usability of the system is „unbeatable”

In fact, the building society’s experts have rigorously tested various control room management systems in the past. This makes it easy to evaluate the new components: “Jungmann KVM technology scores highly in terms of convenience,” reports Benjamin Stamer. He adds: “Today, the visualisation on the display wall and the direct monitors on the table merge into a single workstation – something we didn’t have before. The usability is unbeatable – extremely intuitive and, unlike other models, much less prone to errors!”

More Information

myGUI® user platform makes all the difference

His colleague Fernando Lorieri adds with regard to the KVM solution (KVM = keyboard, video, mouse): “Even though the hardware behind the various systems is similar, the software makes all the difference.” He is referring to the myGUI® user platform, which JST developed specifically for control rooms. The interface offers the option of switching any application to any screen via the JST CommandPad® touchscreen.

Approval from colleagues for modern, intuitive solution

Benjamin Stamer remembers the old control center well: “Before, we had something that looked like a keyboard from the 1970s and sounded like an old typewriter when you used it. Everyone is familiar with the new touch controls from their everyday use of mobile phones and tablets – it’s modern and intuitive. The solution was immediately approved by our colleagues.”

Visitors also fascinated by the new control room

It is not only the control room team that is highly satisfied. Visitor groups are also fascinated – from potential trainees to the bank’s executive board. The modern IT control station is a visual highlight within the company during guided tours. This is ensured by, among other things, proactive visualization via the video wall, ergonomic operator consoles and sound-absorbing OPAL ceiling sails.

"Everything tested and coordinated with each other"

For Fernando Lorieri and Benjamin Stamer, one thing is certain: the wait was worth it. Visits to JST control centers at R+V Versicherung and Audi in Ingolstadt, as well as visits to JST’s control room simulator and the “ko:mon – Congress for Monitoring and Control Room Technology” have confirmed the conviction of the two project managers from Schwäbisch Hall: “The entire Jungmann system is simply perfect. Everything comes from a single source, everything has been tested and coordinated with each other. There’s no improvisation. It’s simply top-notch!“
